Thanksgiving Storytime
Gobble Gobble! Join us for a fun-filled, hands-on story time. Guests and members can enjoy come-and-go activities and Thanksgiving-themed stories. Activities are geared towards young children and toddlers, but open to all! Thanksgiving Storytime will be held on the second floor of the museum in our Discovery Zone.
All story time activities are included with admission or museum membership.
Tiny STEAMers: Camping Adventures
Join us in Camp Hammy for an adventure on November 21st! Your little camper will create magical campfire stories, paint river rocks, and fish for colors and numbers. Not only do we have fun activities planned for class, but your little camper can explore the River Adventure before we open! Class tickets are $25 per child, which includes 1 adult + stay and play wristbands to explore after class.

Tech Night: Board Games
Our Tech Team is hosting a board game night in the new Tech Den. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Tech Nights are recommended for children 8 - 15 years old.

Cookie in a Jar Workshop
Join Mrs. Claus for a holiday treat! Learn baking basics, practice measuring, and design a sweet gift! Class participants will take home a cookie in a jar and a holiday apron.
This workshop will take place in our second-floor Discovery Zone from 1 - 2 PM. Tickets are $25 per workshop participant. Limited space, 25 workshop spots.
Want to play before or after the workshop? Admission to the museum will be $5 for class participants and their families.
Sensitive Playtime
Join us on the first Thursday of every month from 4 - 5 PM for Sensitive Playtime. The museum lights are dimmed, and sounds are reduced for a quieter play experience. Headphones will be provided along with a fun sensory experience.
NEW: The museum will now be offering an interactive sensory experience in our Discovery Zone on the 2nd Floor.
Live Reading of Christmas in the Mountain State
Join us on Sunday, December 7th, at 2 PM for a live reading with Chad Story, author of Christmas in the Mountain State.
Christmas in the Mountain State was written in memory of my late parents and as a reflection of my journey to discover the beauty of our state. As a child growing up in the coalfields of West Virginia with limited means, I was not aware of many of the exciting and unique places that make our state great. With this book, I hope to inspire young readers (and adults, too) all over West Virginia to see their home in a new light. The book is a full-color holiday story that follows Jay, the red cardinal, as he travels through West Virginia — from the gold dome in Charleston to the lights at Chief Logan State Park, historic Harpers Ferry, the New River Gorge Bridge, The Greenbrier, and beyond.
The author Chad Story will be available after the reading to sign books and meet guests. Books will be available for purchase. As a perk for attending, Discovery World on Market will do a drawing for all the guests that attend and give away 20 signed books!
This live reading will be held in the newly renovated 4th-floor theater and will be included with museum admission or membership.
Tiny STEAMers: STEM Holiday Celebration
It’s time to jingle bell rock at Tiny STEAMers! Grab your fun and funky holiday sweaters and join us for a STEAM-tastic celebration. During this hands-on class, we will explore a winter sensory bin, construct a not-so-sticky gingerbread house out of cardboard, and make DIY holiday ornaments while practicing our counting and pattern recognition! And yes, we are going to rock out to some fun holiday tunes.

Izzy's Kids Club: Gingerbread Build-Off

Frozen Adventures: Ice Skating
Elsa's magic is coming to Discovery World on Market!
For a limited time only, you can ice skate on our synthetic ice with one of our Frozen characters in Elsa's ice castle. Ice skating will be available in the newly renovated 4th-floor Theater December 26 - Jan 4. Ice Skating tickets will be $7 per skater. Timed tickets will be available for purchase in person at the museum. NO online tickets will be sold. Tickets include: 30 minutes of ice skating, skate rental, a 15-minute meet & greet time for the group, and exclusive “Frozen” merchandise only available at Wondering Izzy’s Trading Post. *NOTE: Due to the size of Elsa’s ice rink, only 30 tickets will be issued per timed ticket.

Join the Tech Team in our newly designed Tech Den for a fun night of trivia games and pizza! Tech Nights are recommended for children ages 8 - 15. This drop-off event is held monthly with time to explore 3d printers and pens, laser cutters, and more! Each month has a different themed activity, dinner, and exploration time.

Sphero Workshop
Join our Tech Team for a two-day Sphero Workshop in the NEW Tech Den. Learn about Sphero operating, draw coding, block coding, and more! Workshop participants will take home their own mini-Sphero after completing the workshop.
Our Mini Sphero Workshop will be held on December 29th - December 30th. Sessions will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 2:00 PM each day. A lunch period will be scheduled; lunch will NOT be provided by Discovery World. Please pack a lunch each day.

Tiny STEAMers: Tool Time
It’s tool time at Tiny STEAMers!
Join us for a fun story, hands-on engineering stations, and a building-themed sensory project geared for ages 2 - 5 years old.
Starting in September 2025, classes will be offered on the third Friday of every month from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Class participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before class.
Tiny STEAMers is now FREE for members. Present your membership ID card at the ticket booth for free entry. This can be done the day of class or anytime in person prior to the class.
The class size is limited to 12 children. The cost for (1) child and (1) caregiver is $25, which includes the class and a stay-and-play wristband to explore the museum after class.

Along with exploring our outdoor life size dig site with hidden bones, fossils, and treasures, and designing their own hat, adventures can purchase an "Add-On Experience" ticket to stuff a Dino Pal to take home.
